Be careful what you wish for..

You really have to be careful of what you wish for sometimes, lately that seems to be true. After a brilliant season and winning the MotoAmerica SSTK1000 Championship The Westby Racing Team decided to take another swipe at it but moving into the Superbike class instead. Career suicide ? some may think so, for now I am running circles in my head trying to make sure every I is dotted and every T crossed.

Big bike class, big motor, big suspension, shit, big everything including budget. It's times like these you wonder, " man, if I only had two more guys working and another month". Well tough shit, do it boy. since the beginning even when Dane was alive this was the long term goal for our team and so it has become !

For the first entry  I just want to line out the team for you, this is a group of very dedicated hard working folks who actually have other jobs and work for the team on a part time basis. You see there is no big 10,000 square foot shop with big bright lights, no 18 wheeler parked out front and certainly no free rides. Instead Tryg Westby decided to assemble the best group of humans he could from the very start of this journey they include:

Tryg Westby – team Owner

Mathew Scholtz – Pilot

Ed Sullivan – Crew Chief

Dustin Meador – lead chassis tech

Frank Shockley – chassis tech

Vanessa Lauritsen – Queen of activation

Carmen Parker – first hand to the queen of activation

John Cornwell – suspension tuner to the stars

Scarlett Westby – Sister of the Wolverine and web/ graphic design

Terri Collins- The real BOSS

Shawna Sims – F.W.D " Financial watch Dog"

Chuck Giacchetto –  Team Manager and punching bag

Following Tryg's lead we have chosen our team sponsors wisely , not only do they need to stay true to their commitment they need to be true human beings with morals or they simply won't cut it. Our sponsors for 2018 are as follows :

Westby Racing, Yamalube U.S.A. , Yamaha Motor-co, Superbike Unlimited, Miami Thread , The Jorco Group, Biothermal llc, Core Moto, Livengood Motorsports, SBS brakes, RK chain, Renthal sprockets, Fast Frank Racing, Domino/G2 Ergonomics, LacoMoto, Evoltechnology, Ohlins , Zero Gravity Racing, MWR Air filters, Yoshimura R&D ,Yoyodyne, Beta tools U.S.A. , Pro-Bolt U.S.A. , Bell Helmets , Spidi safety gear , Speedcell  batteries, Translogic , S.E. Moto , World Wide Bearing , Capit , OZ Racing Wheels and Drppin' Wet.

That's a big list for a small team, we are proud to say each one of our sponsors has had an impact on our team and what path it takes in the future. To really understand the makeup of our team you really need to see the DNA of it first so when I mention someone in future Blog entries or SBU you will have a decent understanding of everyone's roll. I would like to think I can share most of this with you as adults and most of the blog be true to the actual experience, I hope you can handle it ! My next entry will be right before we load up for the MotoAmerica test on March 25-27th at Barber Motorsports Park , and hey it's free so get on your bike and drop by for a laugh and a handshake from the Champ himself Mathew Scholtz.

                                         Peace Out SBU Fans

                                                           Mr. Charles
