Late model OE calipers have come a long way in terms of both performance and design. Far more rigid than their predecessors, the late generation examples from Brembo, Nissan, Sumitomo, Tokico and others provide ultra stiff and relatively lightweight designs have been instrumental in bringing braking performance to new levels.
But they’re still using problematic aluminum pistons – lightweight, yes, but also highly conductive in providing a huge heat path into the hydraulics. BrakeTech is now addressing this with specially engineered ventilated stainless steel pistons of proprietary material that all but eliminates those shortcomings.
Piston kits are sold in sets of 4. You will need one set per caliper.
Features:
- Reduces thermal conductivity by 94%
- Dramatically improves piston retraction, with a similar reduction of brake drag
- Increases top speed
- Eliminates fluid boil
- Improves release time for greater control exiting the apex
- Improves overall braking consistency under severe racing conditions
- Sold in sets of 4 (one set needed per caliper)
- Available for a wide range of late model sportbikes
- 2 piston applications $119.95
These new ventilated racing pistons are manufactured from 300 series stainless to provide great thermal stability for racing applications. This translates into much more consistent braking under extreme conditions. No more having to chase the lever position in the second half of the race or suffer the effects of fluid boil. The graph clearly shows the thermal conductivity difference between the OE aluminum pistons and BT's new Ventilated Racing Pistons.
